Guruhans Singh Kroesen, Sculptor

Page from SketchbookSculpture is an intriguing art form, the work requires manipulation of three-dimensional perspectives and the surfaces created by those perspectives. I've chosen the medium of steel and stone for the task of creating my vision, a challenge in conception, invention and fabrication. Steel is a rigid and intensely geometric medium, it provides an enticing contrast to the fluidity and organic nature of my expression.

I am inspired by the perfection of nature's beauty, aspiring to that perfection in depicting our relationship with it. Feeling enticed to understand the conflict of living against the grain of nature, I question isolating the absolute necessity of its balance to our needs.

This aspect of our existence provides an intrigue to the visual expression embodied in my creative need to find a sense of reason and purpose. Influenced from the linear motion in nature, my concern is to capture form with vitality and decipher the intrinsic energy between interacting shapes. This expression is meant to emulate balance in the relationship between shape and form, starting with an immaculate line. With my sculpture I strive to create a representation for our experience. Being an infinite possibility, this work is defined by a sacred faith in all forms of divinity. Although there is no belief regulating my expression, the translation of my internal experience is governed by an overwhelming appreciation for Life. Enjoy.
